The actor and comedian Tim Healy was speaking at Macdonald Linden Hall Golf and Country Club in Northumberland , where he’s set to hold a star-studded golf day to raise money for a cause close to his heart.
All proceeds from the event will go help the family of Tim’s close friend David Whitaker, an actor who helped him set up the Live Theatre in Newcastle. Following a stroke in 2012, David now requires constant care, and famous names will flock to Northumberland to help Tim raise cash to support his pal.
Tim said: “I was devastated when I found out he’d had a stroke and needs 24-hour care. It’s put a tremendous strain on his family having to find additional care costs and that’s why we want to raise as much money as possible, we want people to dig deep at the auctions and buy all these special prizes to help Dave and his family.”
The tournament was set to take place last year, but the Benidorm star’s sudden bout of ill health meant it had to be postponed.
But he says he’s now feeling even fitter than before, and eager to get out on the golf course with guests in September.
“We’ve got lots of celebrities, people from the world of sport, lots of ex-Newcastle players.
“There’s lots of surprises as well on the night, so it’ll be a cracking night of music and laughter. Buy a ticket!”
Tickets for the inaugural ‘Tim Healy Celebrity Classic’ golf day, sponsored by PinPoint Health and Social Care, on September 7, are available online at officialtimhealy.com
